When you're looking at certain reports in Cloud, you might notice that sometimes the "Print View" actually exports the information to Excel instead of a .pdf document. This is by Salesforce design.
Note that when "Print View" is used, an exact image of the page is pulled, but renders in an Excel sheet. So, the difference in views is as follows:
Export button: Pulls raw data into Excel
Print View: Pulls the page image into Excel
With custom reports like Key Ratios, Notes, etc., we do use a .pdf generator, but standard reports (ex. Business View) are set by Salesforce and not formatted for .pdf.
