Cloud Seems Slow, What's Going On?

If it is a system issue, the Home Office will send out a notification email as soon as we're aware of the problem.

If not, the sluggishness may be related to one or more of the items listed below:
What's your network set-up like? Do you have much else going on? VOIP phones? Streaming Music? Peer to Peer Applications running behind the scenes (Spotify, etc.)?
  • Are you in a building on your own or are there other businesses in the immediate vicinity? The reason we ask is that Cable is not a dedicated connection for just you, so the speeds do fluctuate.  For example: If you live in an apartment building, the internet is always slower at home in the evenings because the rest of the people in the building are home from work and everyone is online. It's not a huge amount, but all of these things add up to slower speeds.
  • What kind of computers are you running? What is their OS? What is the processor speed? How much memory? And most importantly, how much of that memory is available?
With answers to these three questions, we will have more to go on and can better assist with next steps.

On our end, we can ask one of our developers to take a look at your notes.  Because everything is happening in the browser, occasionally we have had some sluggishness from excessive use of characters or unique combinations of characters such as "*!*" or "***". The browser recognizes these as code and then tries to process them which can slow things down.

Here's what we recommend doing for today/tomorrow until we can further diagnose:
Keep an hourly log of your speed tests for just one day. Each hour, on the hour (you can set a task in Cloud to remind you), go to speedtest.net and then email yourself the results. This way if there is an issue you can forward them to your internet service provider.
  • Shut down your machines at night to ensure updates are running and any unintended processes running in the background of your machine is terminated. You'd be truly shocked what ends up staying open and running and running and running forever if you don't restart regularly.
  • You could try swapping out the modem, however this is more of a last resort.
