In the actual MACS email, there's a trademark symbol (TM) next to the 49 point checklist. But, sometimes in the test email it renders as a question mark instead. This is because the TM character is a unique character in HTML and a fairly new addition to the list of characters that HTML supports. Since each character, such as letters and numbers, is basically an instruction to browsers/programs to draw a figure (for example, there's a code for drawing a capital letter A vs. a lower case letter A or the tilde ~ symbol in Spanish for example). As the people in charge of HTML start adding characters that can be drawn, it runs the risk of older programs not being able to render the newer characters and will instead show a question mark. This is what's happening with the TM symbol and sometimes the copyright symbol.Â

In short there's not too much you can do it fix it. As time goes on and browsers update, this problem will resolve itself.Â
